White truffles (tartufi bianchi) are among the most expensive food in the world. Famous for their aroma and taste, truffles are the jewels in Italy's gastronomic crown.
Have you ever imagined going on a walk in the Tuscan or Umbria woods with a dog and truffle expert to go truffle hunting? White truffle, the most precious, aromatic and expensive variety, grows only in Italy from October to December. Its aromas vanish very quickly, within a few days. Therefore the only way to taste high quality truffle is to find it and eat it within a day or two. Other truffles such as the black summer truffle can be hunted in the summer months, as well as the scorzone truffle, so the hunt is available all year round.
Your unforgettable day experience begins in the morning when you are picked up at your hotel or villa in Cortona and surroundings by a luxury vehicle with an English-speaking driver. After a leisurely drive through the beautiful Tuscan landscape, you will meet a local professional truffle hunter with his wonderful and inseparable dog (the destination of the area varies according to the season), who will take you through the entire process of finding and digging up truffles, teaching you how to distinguish and taste the different varieties. And in the end you will almost certainly find the precious tuberous, a moment of great excitement.
The truffle hunt lasts about one hour and a half. Then it's time to move to the farm for a tasting of local products and a guided sensorial analysis of truffle. Truffle-based lunch at the farm is available on request.
